a tardy kung hee fat choy

even though i didn't have a chance to revel in the chinese new year festivities while home, it seemed that everywhere we went last weekend we crossed paths with a troupe preparing to perform the celebratory dragon dance. that kind of thing just doesn't happen in my mainland neighborhood which is one more reason you are lucky you live hawaii.

anyhoo, if this is your year to shine (1911, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 - double check if your birthday falls on the jan/feb cusp), you just may want to sport a sig zane tee featuring the pua'a'ehu'ehu print to honor the year of the pig/boar.

tees are available in both adult and keiki sizes.

baby cozy

since half the country seems to be in a deep freeze this seems like a good time to mention bubunja baby blankets. the snuggly buggly is the creation of aiea girl & former swimwear designer stacie buell who whipped up the innovative solution to keep her little ones warm during chilly colorado winters.

anyone who has ever attempted to dress a wiggly baby knows it can be a bit of a struggle (now that would be a good elimination challenge on a reality show). the snuggly buggly nixes the need for all the extra accoutrements required on a cold winter day making it a bit of a time saver for families on the go.

the blankets have been a popular item in swag bags and celebs pestered by the stalkerazzi have been known to use the hoodies to shield their little ones' faces from the prying eye of the camera lens. fortunately, you don't have to concern yourself with how to outmanuever the paparazzi so all you need to know is that it will keep your babe warm, sizes range from infants to toddlers, and continental u.s. orders include complimentary fedex shipping.

{update | jan 2010: the bubunja baby website has been taken down}

introducing punk-n-pie

grease monkey + sakura sundress

liana from on a friday & mixed plate dropped me a note with exciting news of the launch of punk-n-pie, her new online baby boutique. this is definitely the place to shop if you want the little ones in your life to stand out from the crowd.

in addition to the adorable clothing, punk-n-pie has a nice mix of modern goodies for the entire family like all natural bath products from little twig, kid-friendly wall art (take a peek at tokidoki's playful skull & crossbones design) & timbuk2 bags to keep mom & dad organized when they're on the go with (or without) kids in tow.

and, to celebrate the grand opening, punk-n-pie is offering free shipping on all orders!

let's go under the sea

wee gallery undersea

blik (of the fabulous polynesia glass stiks) is at again with their new wee gallery line. i know it's meant for the kiddie set but the undersea design is seriously cute. the hand-drawn graphics feature turtles, seaweed, bubbles & more which you can arrange any way you please to float up, down and around your walls.

perfect for the nursery or transform your bath into a slightly irreverant ode to sea life à la the oceanarium. the stickers are repositionable and removeable so when your tot grows tired of sleeping with the fishes you can pull them off and move on to the next big thing.

keiki fishtales

swimming menpachi halter + manini romper

you never know where a few clicks will take you in the vast world of the internet. one link leads to another and eventually you happen upon a lovely site like fishtales. you might not think that the combination of the 19th century art form of gyotaku and keiki clothing would work but it does and it is absolutely adorable.

the kaneohe company silkscreens by hand original gyotaku images on everything from onesies to dresses for little ones of all sizes. this is definitely going on my list of potential baby booty if the coconut wire ever brings tidings of a new addition to the family of my newlywed cousin who grew up fishing in the deep seas of the pacific.
